FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a doula?

A doula is a trained professional who provides physical, emotional, and informational support to birthing individuals before, during, and after childbirth. Unlike medical providers, doulas do not offer medical care or advice but instead focus on advocating for your needs, ensuring you feel empowered, and helping create a positive birth and postpartum experience.

Why should I get a doula?

Studies show that having a doula can lead to shorter labors, lower rates of medical interventions, and an overall more positive birth experience. A doula provides continuous support, helping you feel informed, confident, and in control of your birth journey—whether at home, in a hospital, or in a birth center. My goal is to ensure your voice is heard and your choices are respected throughout your experience.

What if I have specific needs not included in a package?

I would love to chat with you and create a plan that fits your specific needs! Every family and birth experience is unique, and I am happy to customize my support to meet your preferences. Give me a call, and let’s make a plan that feels right for you!

What are your payment policies?

Birth Doula Package: A $500 nonrefundable deposit is required at the time of hire, with the remaining balance due at the last prenatal visit (around 36 weeks).
Postpartum Doula Package: A $250 nonrefundable deposit is required at the time of hire, with the remaining balance due at the first postpartum visit.
Payment plans may be available upon request.

What happens if you can’t show up to my birth?

I do everything in my power to be present for your birth. However, if I am unable to attend due to my own circumstances, I will issue a refund. If I am unable to attend because I was not informed in time, no refund will be given, and payment is still required.

What happens if you or I are sick?

If I am sick, I will notify you in advance, and you can decide whether you still want me to attend your birth. If you prefer, I am happy to mask or reschedule prenatal/postpartum visits.
If you or a household member is sick, please inform me as soon as possible. I will assess the situation and decide if I can safely attend your birth or visit. I may need to reschedule to protect the health of other families I work with.

What if I am planning to get an epidural or have a scheduled c-section?

Doulas provide valuable support for all birth plans! If you’re getting an epidural, I’ll help you stay comfortable, informed, and in optimal positions for labor progress. For a scheduled C-section, I’ll support you emotionally, help with birth planning, and assist in your postpartum recovery. Every birth deserves compassionate care, and I’m here to ensure you feel empowered and supported.
